It was a great trip to the UK other than the singing in the bus, don't give up
on the studies lads, the trip was a great success.
The Saturday was a training session with two Fylde teams followed by five and
six aside games. In short everyone played well. We played some exceptional
football and won five games out of six.
With the Friendlies over, we went to Rossall School for our overnight stay.
Thank you to all there. It was only one night but what value it was, three
meals and a bed for £25. Kids well behaved, but jake don't take your shoes off
next time ad trust your friends in your dorm. Thank you to Rossall.
The real tournament started at 10 on the sunday. we played three UK teams
Poulton Youth FC, an Allstars team from the Fylde coast and Knowsley South from
Liverpool. We played the Scousers first and what a test that was, hard,
physical, good football and quick. a very close first game which we lost due to
a fluke goal. We went on from there to win three and lose two more. But we
qualified for the final to meet the Knowsley team again.
This time we were ready for the physical challenge, everybody played well and
the match at full time was 0-0. Straight to penalties and five volunteers were
there with their hands up. so Max first and a miss, james then saved, jordan
slipped his in the corner as did owen and joe, they missed and we won.
Well done to all who played. Thank you to Mick at Poulton FC for arranging the
tournament and Knowsley for such a good test for my boys they were very unlucky
on the day.
