As part of its committment to increasing its youth player development, Union Mills had two coaches (David & Colin - Standing Far Left) on the recently developed FA Youth Award Module 1 4 Day Course specifically targeting the 5-11 age group. Both David and Colin had previously attended a pilot 1 day course earlier in the year.
About the FA Youth Award.
The innovative FA Youth Award is as much about the how as the what in relation to working with youth players.
It is the first course that looks at the child and where they are developmentally (separated in four areas - physical, psychological, technical and social aspects) and then packages football through a number of exciting new activities in such a way that it "fits" the child and not the other way round.
This marks a progressive change in coaching philosophy, creating a truly player centred approach to the coaching and development of our young players.
